Jesus invites me to his table and he invites others. He invites people that are not like me. Yes, I am a sinner as are all the others at the table. He invites my enemies; people I don’t like and people that don’t like me. All at the table desire to eat with Jesus, but we do not want to eat with one anther.

Who is at my table? Who is not?

Sunday Night October 16th: Halloween Hat Party!

This Sunday night we at Ken and Linda Henry's home. Ken and Linda live at 9222 Alta Oaks. Vans depart from the church at 5:30 pm and arrive back at the building at 8:15 pm.

Prizes will be given for the scariest hat, silliest hat, and the wierdest hat.

Weekend of October 1st -2nd

Saturday October 1st Carwash: 8:00 am to11:00 am
This service project will be with the Friends, Skillman's young adults. All of us will be washing cars to help Dana Anders raise money for The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. Dana is one of our young adults. She is running in a marathon with several thousand people to rasie money for this cause.

Sunday Morning Bible Class at 9:00 am
Charme Robarts and a group of leaders are teaching and discussing "How the Lord's Prayer Can Get Us Through Life".

Sunday Night Sand Volleyball at 4:30 pm
The weather will be awesome this weekend when we hit the sand for volleyball. Dinner is being provided by the Blessings Class -grilled hot dogs. We are playing at the Campbell Green Recreation Center located at 16600 Park Hill (Campbell and Hillcrest). The van leaves at 4:30 pm and arrives back at the building at 7:30 pm. Danny and Martha Horan and Alan and Bonny Green are sponsors for this event.

Sunday Night Ocotber 2nd

This Sunday Night SYM is playing sand volleyball at the Campbell Green Recreation Center located 16600 Park Hill, 75248. This is the cross street of Campbell and Hillcrest. Dinner will be provided by the Blessings class. The van will depart from the FLC at 4:30 pm and return at 7:30 pm.

2006 Summer Calendar Meeting: Update

Thank you for the great turn out and support for our gathering of the minds this past Sunday evening. Dwight, Charme and I are pleased with the ministry's enthusiam which includes a willingness to participate from both students and parents.

Thank you for the things you are doing and what you are commited to do in the future.

One thing to note about the meeting. A committee has been formed that is investigating our plans for summer camp. It had been decided that we would no longer use Texoma Youth Camp. Bill Minick spoke from the heart to our group. Many willing hands were raised in support of working make to TYC a reality for the next few years. This group decided to take a couple of weeks to make a decision about whether or not Skillman can make Texoma happen.

Jesus and our identity

Last Wednesday night we talked about loneliness. What makes people lonely? What makes you and me lonely? How do we deal with loneliness and do we look to God during these times?

We looked at Jesus’ healing of the man with leprosy. We decided that Jesus did and was three things for this person. He was his Savior. Jesus saved him from the perils of a disease that rots the physical body. He was freedom to the ill man. He released from the prison of the outcasts of society. Jesus was his healer. He healed his body and even deeper he healed his spirit.

We decided that we can take on the identity of Jesus in our lives this week by emulating Jesus in this situation. As Jesus laid his hands on a man who was “untouchable” so we can lay hands on those who are considered untouchable in our world. This kind of laying on of hands brings freedom from being a social outcast. We decided that praying over someone is a way to bring healing. Not only from physical sickness but spiritual or emotional as well. We also concluded that listening is one way to bring freedom. We decided that being heard is somehow a saving event for a hurting heart.

I wanted to rethink these with you. Have you done any of these this week?

Of course we realize that any of the three –listening, laying hands, and praying over someone bring healing, freedom, and saving in some form.

Thank you! Thank you to those who donated money yesterday. God has been doing good things through his people in the last week.

Zach Nieland was encouraged by each of you who shared ideas out of your concern for the evacuess. He said many of you have wanted to help in physical ways. Unfortunately, most agencies require a person to be at least 18 years of age in order to help on a particular site.

They may be some ways to help and I will be the first to tell. Meanwhile continue to pour your heart out before God and let the cry of the people be heard. God is faithful to deliver.

"When my life was ebbing away, I remembered You, O Lord, and my prayer rose to You, to Your holy temple." Jonah 2:7

This Sunday September 4th - Lunch Buunch
We have decided not to go eat at Lover's Pizza. Instead bring a sandwich to the Youth Room after Sunday worship. We will all put our lunch money in a pot to help the victim's of Katrina. Enourage your family and friends to join for a sandwich and in putting their money in the offering pot.

Sunday Septemeber 11th - 6:00-8:00pm at the Osborn's Home
This is a swim party and cookout. Bring your swimsuit, towel, and your best party yell!

Sunday September 18th - 4:30-5:30pm - Calendar Meeting
At this meeting with both parents and teens we will do three things. First, we'll look at what Danny and Martha Horan have planned for Sunday nights for the rest of 2005. Second, we'll look at the 2006 Summer Calendar. Last, we'll get you and your parents to give us your info. We want to know e-mail addys, phone #s, web addresses, and other things about your life so we can serve you better! See you there!

Living in the Question

Hey guys,
I had a great time questioning with you last night. I'm proud of all of you for being trustworthy and mature in response to our friends who graciously shared deeper parts of their lives. Knowing deeper things about one another gives us the opportuntiy to love one another better and be in greater community. Being in community together means we see needs in one anothers lives and act, we pray for one another, we serve one another, we challenge one another, and encourage one another in faith, hope, and love.

I pray that God will use this group to bring about greater love for the things He loves.
